Seoul and Jeju, New Museum History with Preservation and Creation

SIMPLE with SOUL. The founder of Arario Corporation, collector and the artist CI KIM has drawn the ARARIO MUSEUM Project on the foundation of this philosophy.

SIMPLE is a core value of such museum outlook as design and interior as well as museum operation. CI KIM has explored on how to establish a museum through the simple and basic question ‘What Is Museum?’. This simple question led to a simple answer.

The answer is the museum where the art works are the main character and where visitors can sincerely enjoy them.
Thus art works and visitors have become the main components of ARARIO MUSEUM. Since the lighting makes the art works notable and enjoyable, CI KIM led the museum project team to Germany and finally decided to install ERCO lights.

Unnecessarily decorative and artificial elements are excluded in the interior design. That is how CI KIM chose the existing historical or commercial buildings : SPACE (Seoul), TAPDONG CINEMA, TAPDONG BIKESHOP and DONGMUN MOTEL Ⅰ(Jeju) and has changed them into the museums through the least renovation as possible. This ‘Principle of Least Renovation’ was applied to help visitors enjoy the collections more safely and more pleasantly.

‘SOUL’ represents the art works of the museum and the collection of CI KIM. CI KIM as a collector put emphasis on the soul of artists and of their works and this collection criteria was reflected in the museum collection. CI KIM even collects the pieces of unknown artists only if they bear passion, energy and the philosophy of artists. Visitors can be inspired by SOUL of art works and furthermore of the exhibition composition. ARARIO MUSEUM presents an entire world of one exclusive artist through a whole museum space.

ARARIO MUSEUM tries to reach to more visitors through an online exhibition space, homepage. The homepage is currently becoming a key element of museum operation since more and more people search information and learn more of art online, and ARARIO MUSEUM will not neglect it.

SIMPLE with SOUL is a personal philosophy of CI KIM and of ARARIO MUSEUM in parallel. To share a collector’s thought, passion and perspective on art works might be an added value of a private museum. The entire staff of ARARIO MUSEUM will spare no efforts to present valuable art works and to keep the museum atmosphere as pleasant as possible.
